LESBIAN-GAY Community Service Center

OF GREATER CLEVELAND

This space has been donated to the Center by the Chronicle. The following does not necessarily reflect the views of the Chronicle staff or management.

Center Workers Attend Health Conference. The Lesbian-Gay Community Service Center will be well-represented at the 11th National Lesbian and Gay Health Conference April 5-9 in San Francisco.

Attending from the Center will be Dan Morrill, new program director of the Living Room; Bob Boone, volunteer program doordinator of PRYSM; Faith Klaseck, PRYSM volunteer; and Aubrey Wertheim, director of services at the Center.

The Center also is helping coordinate the Third Annual Conference of Gay and Lesbian Community Centers, along with centers in Los Angeles, New York and Orange County (Calif.). Also, PRYSM is participating in a daylong Youth Institute.

The Youth Institute and the community centers conference are before the health conference to enable maximum participation by people and organizations nationwide.

The health conference will feature more than 200 workshops covering AIDS and many other lesbian and gay health issues.

The Center's participation in the conference is being underwritten by the

Western Reserve AIDS Foundation and the City of Cleveland Department of Health.

Youth Group Grows. The new youth group, PRYSM (Presence and Respect for Youth in Sexual Minority), is growing rapidly. There now are 22 participants in this rap group, operated by and for people 22 years or younger. PRYSM is planning new social activities, including a skit at Pride '89 in June.

Men In Touch. A new Men In Touch group starts Tuesday, April 11, at 8 p.m. This is the third cycle of this group, which meets for six weeks of discussions focusing on gay male identity, intimacy and communication.

An introductory forum will be held Sunday, April 2, at 5 p.m.

Center Potluck. Join us for the Center Potluck Saturday, April 15, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Sign up at the Center, or call the hot line.

The Living Room. The Living Room needs "Shoulders," or volunteers, able to help days and evenings to welcome and orient men and women using the Living Room. Love of People with AIDS is essential. Call Dan Morrill at the Center during the day, 522-1999.

Show Tune Sing-A-Long. A Show Tune Sing-A-Long is being planned as a monthly event. We've got the piano player, but not the piano! If you can provide one, we can move it!

Call the office to make arrangements. We'll sing your praises.
